The Cloud Skater: Sun Wukong

This was my first character design project I undertook at SCAD. I wanted to take a personal favorite character of mine from Chinese Mythology, The Monkey King himself, Sun Wukong, and place him in as aesthetic and setting close to me.

In my imaging Sun Wukong is awoken in the time of my youth (the late 90’s early 2000’s) and is entirely overwhelmed by the idea of skateboarding, inlining, motorcycles, and all the more extreme activities that really flourished at the time. He teams up with a rag-tag crew of like-minded demons, a human boy, and utilizing his transforming nimbus cloud as wheels for all types of vehicles, they travel across the globe shredding up the streets and clouds along the way.
